From January 1, 2026, the amount of fines for traffic violations in the Netherlands will increase by an average of 4 percent. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These changes include a number of new requirements for drivers. In particular, the use of phones while driving will be strictly controlled.
Drivers using a phone without a special hands-free device will be fined 440 euros. Additionally, exceeding the speed limit will also result in significant financial penalties.
Drivers who exceed the speed limit by 5 km/h in the city will pay a fine of 46 euros, while exceeding the speed limit by 20 km/h on the highway will cost 229 euros. Running a red light will be punished with a fine of at least 320 euros.
Violations of parking rules will also be costly. The fine for incorrect parking starts at 130 euros, and illegal parking in spaces reserved for disabled persons amounts to 400 euros.
Aggressive driving is given special attention, with overtaking on the right fined at 320 euros, and maintaining a distance between vehicles shorter than the norm fined at 380 euros. The most important point is that it is impossible to avoid the fines set in the Netherlands.
These fines are also enforced abroad. If the fine is not paid on time, its amount increases rapidly.
For this reason, officials demand that drivers strictly comply with traffic rules.
