The head of a defense equipment manufacturing plant in Russia, Vladimir Arsenyev, attempted suicide. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He set himself on fire in Red Square in central Moscow. It is said that this incident is related to financial and production problems within his company.
It has been revealed that after Russia's military actions against Ukraine began, the company led by Arsenyev was forced to supply communication equipment parts for tank crews. The production process had to be accelerated and tasks completed within set deadlines.
If contracts were not fulfilled, the government threatened criminal liability. However, the company faced the risk of bankruptcy due to financial difficulties and management problems.
In July 2024, Arsenyev set himself on fire due to these difficult circumstances. He sustained severe injuries and was treated in hospital.
This incident reveals the level of pressure exerted on defense industry enterprises in Russia. Although the factory is currently continuing its operations, it is reported that the volume of orders has sharply decreased and work processes have been reduced.
