A group of men from South Africa were hired in Russia for special training but later forced to participate in battles in Ukraine, Zamin.uz reported.
According to them, they were forced to live in trenches under harsh cold conditions, lacking food and medical aid. A father named Dubandlela was proud when he sent his son to Russia for VIP security training.
However, after five months, he became worried upon hearing that his son and 16 other South African men were sent by an unknown mercenary group to Russian forces. According to the father, his son is working in cold conditions in the Donbas region, sometimes lacking food and water, and there were instances when he cried on the phone.
The South African government is negotiating with Russia and Ukraine to resolve this issue. This incident reveals the risk of citizens from other African countries being deceived into the war in Ukraine.
The Kenyan government also confirmed that its citizens have been recruited to fight on Russia's side. This situation raises international concern and highlights the necessity of taking measures to prevent such occurrences.
