A new era has begun in the field of transport infrastructure in northwest China. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The world's longest road tunnel has been put into operation in the country. Located on the Urumqi — Uvey highway, this tunnel has a total length of over 22 kilometers, setting a world record.
Named the "Tianshan Victory Tunnel," this project was constructed in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The tunnel is situated among the Tianshan mountain ranges and serves as an alternative to the previously difficult and dangerous mountain roads.
According to the Xinhua news agency, the opening of the tunnel has significantly reduced travel time in mountainous areas. What used to take several hours can now be covered in just 20 minutes.
This creates great convenience for drivers and the logistics system. The Urumqi — Uvey highway is of strategic importance, crossing the Tianshan mountains and connecting the northern and southern cities of the region.
The large road network includes 12 transport hubs, 17 tunnels, and hundreds of modern bridges. According to experts, travel time from north to south through this tunnel has been reduced from 7 hours to 3 hours.
This situation contributes to the development of trade, tourism, and economic relations in the region. The "Tianshan Victory Tunnel" is recognized not only as a major engineering achievement but also as an important symbol reflecting the development of China's modern transport capabilities and infrastructure.
