243-kilogram tuna sold for 3.2 million dollars in Japan
The New Year in Japan traditionally began with a fish auction. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

At the auction held on January 5, a historic record was set among bluefin tunas. This fish, weighing 243 kilograms, was sold for 510 million yen, approximately 3.2 million dollars.

The fish was caught in Japan's Aomori Prefecture, surpassing the previous record set in 1999. The auction took place at the Toyosu market in Tokyo and holds great significance in Japanese business traditions.

For local entrepreneurs, securing the main lot at the first auction of the year is considered a symbol of luck and success. This year's auction was won by Kiyomura Corp., the owner of the famous Sushi Zanmai restaurant chain.

The company's leader, Kiyoshi Kimura, is known for offering high prices and is famous as the "tuna king".

In an interview with journalists, Kimura said he did not expect the price to rise to this level. He has previously purchased tuna at record prices several times, with his 2019 purchase also remembered as a historic event.

At the end of the auction, the valuable tuna was immediately portioned and served to customers at Sushi Zanmai restaurants. Many visitors emphasized that they consider this dish a symbol of starting the year with good fortune.

The first auctions in Japan have not only economic importance but also cultural value. This event attracts worldwide attention every year and generates great international interest.
