Mercedes-Benz has announced an electric minivan that can travel 500 km
Mercedes-Benz has presented the luxurious electric minivan Vision V concept. It will serve as the basis for new iterations of the Vito and V-Class. The new line is planned to produce family minivans and special electric transport for VIP passengers. The concept will be showcased in April, while the production model is set to be released next year.
The presented Vision V stands out with its dynamic design and advanced technologies. The initial teaser featured the Vision V emblem on the rear of the model. It was adorned with a special lighting system that illuminated it against the backdrop of Mercedes-Benz's famous three-pointed stars. Although it is uncertain whether this design will be retained in the production model, the company promises that modern and unique solutions will be applied in the car's design.
The new Vito and V-Class models will be built on the Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) platform. This platform is distinguished by its flexibility, allowing for the creation of various levels of minivans and luxurious shuttles. It will be equipped with an 800-volt system and a power unit with one or two motors.
The most advanced models will have a range of up to 500 kilometers and will initially be equipped with a Level 2 autonomous driving system. Later, the addition of Level 3 and Level 4 autopilots is planned.
Additionally, Mercedes-Benz is developing a new model to replace its EQC crossover. Currently, the GLC with EQ Technology prototype is undergoing testing. It will be equipped with an 800-volt system, modern batteries, and a new braking system.
