
Volkswagen has started producing a new budget crossover based on the Polo model – the Volkswagen Tera, as reported by Auto.Mail.ru. This model is aimed at emerging markets and is considered a crossover in the format of the Renault Sandero Stepway.
Volkswagen Tera specifications:
Crossover body, front-wheel drive, and semi-independent rear suspension
1.0-liter turbo engine (116 horsepower)
6-speed automatic transmission
Base version – 100,000 reais (17,200 dollars)
Most expensive version – 140,000 reais (24,000 dollars)
Volkswagen Tera is being produced at the Taubate plant in Brazil. The first models are expected to go on sale in the spring of this year, and it is anticipated to be presented in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Uruguay by the end of the year. It may later enter the Mexican and African markets as well.
There is currently no information about the cheapest configurations of the Volkswagen Tera, but it is expected to be available in a simple manual and atmospheric engine version as well.
