The process of obtaining car license plates will become easier

The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has approved a decision that significantly simplifies the process of obtaining state registration numbers for cars and motorcycles. This was reported by Upl.uz.

The new regulations will come into effect on January 1, 2026. The main changes are as follows: the auction system on the commodity exchange for "beautiful" numbers will be abolished; no additional fees will be charged for certain letter and number combinations.

Starting from the beginning of 2026, any number can be obtained through an electronic application based on a single increased tariff. This measure aims to make the number acquisition process more transparent and convenient.

Citizens will have the opportunity to select an available number with any letter and number combination from a single open database. Access to this database will be available through the following means: information kiosks at registration departments, the mobile application of the Road Traffic Safety Directorate, the official website, and the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services.

Additionally, from January 1, this open database will contain all numbers by regional codes, except for those already issued or in use. These innovations will simplify the number acquisition process for car and motorcycle owners, making it fairer and more transparent.
