According to Cenyavto.com, Hyundai has officially presented the second generation Nexo model intended for 2025. This is a hydrogen fuel-powered crossover that can travel up to 700 km on a single charge.
The car is based on the conceptual Initium design and has been transitioned to mass production with almost no changes. It features an electric motor with 201 horsepower and a hydrogen fuel cell with 147 horsepower. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. Refueling takes only 5 minutes, which distinguishes it from regular electric vehicles.
The design has sparked discussions: some evaluate it as modern and futuristic, while others compare it to the Pontiac Aztek. Although the straight lines, large bumpers, hidden door handles, and LED lights are unusual, they create a distinctive style. Inside, there are two 12.3-inch screens, a projection display, and cameras instead of mirrors. It also features a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.
Technically, the Nexo has a hydrogen fuel cell and a hybrid system with a 2.64 kWh battery. The updated tank capacity is 6.69 kg (previously 6.33 kg), allowing for a range of 700 km.
The Hyundai Nexo is currently intended for niche markets, but it may attract buyers in China or the USA. In Russia, however, it is not expected in the coming years due to the lack of infrastructure.
