Energy consumption of electric vehicles may increase in hot weather
Summer heat poses a serious challenge not only for people but also for modern technologies, especially electric vehicles. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

As air temperatures rise above thirty degrees, many drivers begin to worry about their vehicles' technical capabilities and energy consumption. This issue is particularly relevant when examining electric cars, such as the new-generation Renault 4, which has gained urgent importance today.

This is reported by Autocar.co.uk. It is known that lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles operate with maximum efficiency within a specific temperature range.

According to specialists cited in Autocar, when the thermometer exceeds thirty-four degrees, a deviation from the battery's ideal operating condition is observed. This may negatively affect the fuel economy and driving range that drivers expect.

The impact of heat on battery capacity is well known in winter, when electric vehicle power drops rapidly, but excessive heat also creates similar problems. Compact and urban-adapted electric vehicles like the Renault 4 are forced to consume extra energy for battery cooling in hot weather.

This significantly reduces the total distance the vehicle can travel on a single charge. In Uzbekistan's conditions, where summer temperatures can reach up to forty-five degrees, this problem becomes even more critical for local drivers.

Furthermore, operating the cabin climate control system at full power accelerates battery discharge. As a result, the efficiency indicators shown in moderate weather conditions lose their effectiveness in hot climates.

For drivers, specialists recommend following several guidelines when using electric vehicles in summer heat. First, it is necessary to park the car in the shade or in enclosed parking areas whenever possible.

This helps prevent excessive overheating of the battery pack. Second, charging should be done during cooler times of the day—early morning or at night.

Although models like the Renault 4 are equipped with modern thermal management systems, the laws of physics cannot be completely bypassed. At high temperatures, chemical reactions inside the battery accelerate, which may affect its long-term service life.

Therefore, avoiding sudden accelerations in hot weather and using the energy recuperation system wisely is advisable. In summary, while modern electric vehicles can withstand temperatures up to thirty-five degrees, this does not guarantee their operation at maximum efficiency.
