Ulyanovsk plant confirms Patriot Expedition reissue

Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant in Russia has officially confirmed the resumption of production of the Expedition version of its popular Patriot off-road vehicle. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This modification, designed for operation in harsh off-road conditions, is expected to hit the market in 2027. The information was shared by the plant’s press service, citing influential publications.
Currently, the updated vehicle is undergoing a full cycle of rigorous testing. According to the plan, the car will also undergo comprehensive checks during the winter seasons of 2026 and 2027.
The manufacturer stated that in the initial phase of sales, only models equipped with gasoline engines will be offered to customers. Technical upgrades and the diesel engine issue are naturally of great interest to many.
As for the new Russian-made 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 136 horsepower, a final decision has not yet been made. Engineers are currently working on the placement and structural features of the power unit.
If technical issues are resolved positively, the Expedition version may in the future be equipped with a diesel engine and a new six-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the updated UAZ Patriot will feature a modern lighting system.
Specifically, the vehicle’s front and rear lights will be fully converted to LED. Significant changes are also expected in the interior, including a newly designed steering wheel and an electromechanical transmission controlled by a gear selector, which will be installed.
Special attention has been paid to safety and electronic aids in the new model. The Expedition modification will be equipped with a stability control system, a braking control system during skids, and a special off-road mode.
These electronic systems will significantly ease the vehicle’s movement on complex terrain. According to the plant, a partner specializing in external protection and additional equipment for the off-roader has already been selected.
In the Uzbek market, UAZ products have traditionally been of interest for rugged terrain and special services. Although modern Chinese crossovers have become widespread in our country in recent years, robust frame-based off-roaders like the Patriot maintain steady demand in their segment.
The expected update in 2027 is anticipated to enhance this model’s competitiveness and help it find its loyal audience. This news is important for off-road enthusiasts and specialists working in harsh conditions.
