Serious disagreements have arisen around the “Eurovision — 2026” song contest. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Reuters news agency, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Slovenia have decided to boycott the competition due to Israel's participation. This issue was one of the most discussed topics at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) General Assembly held in Geneva.
These countries demanded a separate vote on Israel's participation and stated that if Israel takes part in the contest, they would not participate themselves. However, the matter became even more complicated.
Germany, one of the main sponsors of the contest, on the contrary, announced that if Israel is banned from participating, it would not take part in the competition. This has intensified conflicts among European countries.
To resolve the disagreement, the EBU has so far refused to hold a vote on the Israel issue and postponed the decision. Therefore, the situation surrounding the “Eurovision — 2026” contest remains uncertain for now.
