Dilmurod Uzoqov: "It's not all about the tomato"

Theater and film actor Dilmurod Uzoqov, famous for the "seven tomatoes" scene in the TV series "Iqror," recently gave an interview to the "Intervyu Tv" YouTube channel. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the conversation, the actor spoke about how he creates his role as the grumpy father-in-law, how this role sparked discussions, and the importance of life observations in creativity. According to Dilmurod Uzoqov, true performance is not just memorizing and reciting lines, but embodying the character's personality, life path, and emotions to bring the role to life.
He said that in portraying the grumpy father-in-law, he was inspired by the behavior, facial expressions, and habits of a person he knows in real life. — "When they say 'tomato,' they immediately think of me."
Everyone laughs, but there is a deep meaning behind this character. I reflected the temperament of a person I know from life, — the actor says.
In the same conversation, he also recalled the event that inspired the creation of the character. When two craftsmen were working in a household, the daughter-in-law had prepared a table setting for eight people.
Then the head of the household asked the daughter-in-law, "Daughter-in-law, do craftsmen work for 10 days in such a case?" The actor brought this petty, calculating character to the stage.
During the interview, he also touched on the issue of his fee. According to the actor, for roles in TV series, he usually receives the same amount — around 700-800 thousand soms.
However, he noted that his main income comes from other activities, including his work at the institute. He also said that he would have played the grumpy father-in-law role even without a fee, because he believes an actor must always improve his skills.
Dilmurod Uzoqov also shared a memory from his life. He said that when his son was little, they took a photo on a bicycle on Navoi Street, and at that time he wished, "One day I will live here."
After some time, in 1999, he bought a house right there and recalled that his dream had come true. According to the actor, "it's not all about the tomato."
The main goal is for the audience to recognize a real-life character and be able to clearly imagine the role. For this reason, the "seven tomatoes" scene remains in people's minds not only as a joke but also as a reflection of a real-life character.
