The Minister of Culture Met with Youth in Expensive Hermes Footwear
Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov participated in a meeting between ministers and youth held in the city of Andijan on March 12. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At this event, he attracted public attention with his choice of clothing. Videos distributed by the ministry's official sources show that he appeared wearing very expensive and branded shoes.
Although nearly three hundred young people attended the event, the minister's appearance has become a subject of serious discussion today. The shoes worn by Ozodbek Nazarbekov belong to the world-famous Hermes brand.
This product is valued at more than twelve hundred dollars in Europe and the United States. This situation may not comply with the decision adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers in October 2022.
The document emphasizes that the appearance of civil servants must correspond to their working conditions and type of service, as well as demonstrate respect for citizens. The sixth clause of the decision requires maintaining impartiality, modesty, and discipline.
Thus, state officials are required to be modest in their appearance as well. According to official information from the Hermes brand, the Bouncing sneakers model worn by the minister sells for an average of seventeen hundred dollars in the USA.
In Europe, this price is eight hundred ninety-five euros, and in England, it amounts to nine hundred seventy pounds sterling. In Asian countries, this product is delivered for approximately fifteen million soms.
If such expensive goods imported into Uzbekistan cost more than a thousand dollars, a forty percent customs duty is also paid along with it. Therefore, it is natural that these shoes reach a price of fifteen hundred dollars locally.
At the same time, a decree adopted by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in July 2021 introduced a system of mandatory declaration of property for civil servants and their family members. However, the fact that a separate law on the declaration of income and property of civil servants has not yet been adopted raises questions in the public.
Every action and appearance of officials accountable to the people directly affects their trust. Therefore, transparency regarding the lives and financial status of civil servants is a pressing demand of today.
This serves to strengthen trust between the people and the government.
