The film Nobody won the Oscar award

The documentary film Mr. Nobody, created by Pavel Talankin and David Borenstein, has won an Oscar award. Zamin.uz reported on this.
This work openly exposes the military propaganda being conducted in schools across Russia and has drawn the attention of the global public. Recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as the best documentary film, this project was honored at the 98th ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
David Borenstein described the film as a visual document showing how a state can be dismantled. According to him, the footage demonstrates that small actions can disrupt state stability, yet even an ordinary person can be powerful.
While accepting the award, Pavel Talankin called on all viewers to stop wars. He noted that for over four years he has continued to raise the banner of peace, yet in some places bombs fall instead of stars.
The director seeks stability and security for future generations. The primary materials in the film consist of video recordings taken from schools in Karabash, Chelyabinsk Region, starting from February 2022.
Talankin filmed various events, competitions, and lessons in his capacity as a teacher, then left Russia to collaborate with his American colleague Borenstein on the editing process. The film premiered at the end of January 2025 at the Sundance Festival in the USA, where it received a special award.
Subsequently, it was also named the best documentary film at the BAFTA ceremony held in London. In an interview with Germany's DW channel, Talankin discussed pedagogy in schools and the impact of war.
He analyzed Ministry of Education directives and changes within the school environment. This work is valued not only as a historical document but also as a creative piece reminding the entire world of the importance of preserving peace.
