New trade relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan: the export of medicines and food expands
From May 10 to 12, a delegation consisting of representatives from the business circles led by Davron Vahobov, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, visited Afghanistan on a working trip. During the visit, issues related to further strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and implementing new projects were discussed.

Delegation members held a meeting with Hamidullo Zohid, Deputy Minister of Health and Food of Afghanistan. During the conversation, the increase in the volume of supplies of medicines and food products produced in Uzbekistan to Afghanistan, the practical implementation of joint projects, and the institutional development of cooperation were thoroughly discussed.

According to the Afghan side, previously, food and medicines were imported into the country from various states without control, but starting from March 2024, these products are being imported through special certification. This procedure serves to guarantee the quality of products and to clean the market.

Hamidullo Zohid emphasized that the demand for Uzbek products is high, and the Afghan government is ready to create all conditions in this direction. According to him, Uzbek products are considered favorable for the Afghan market in terms of price and quality.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reached a number of specific agreements. In particular, it was agreed to import livestock and food products from Afghanistan to Uzbekistan, to sign a memorandum to formalize this process, as well as to organize an official visit of the delegation from the Afghan Ministry of Health and Food to Uzbekistan.

The editorial team of Zamin.uz will continue to monitor the trade and economic cooperation relations between the two neighboring countries as they reach a new level. How do you assess these developments: Could Afghanistan become a new market for Uzbek products?
