Dollar has risen again! The Central Bank announced new rates for May 14
On May 14, 2025, the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced the next currency rates. According to the new rates, the value of the som has further decreased against the world's major currencies.

Dollar value reaches a new record

On this day, 1 US dollar increased by 39.72 som, reaching 12,935.27 som. This was one of the largest increases in recent weeks and was noted as the dollar reaching a new record level. At the end of March, the dollar was trading around 12,800 som.

Euro and pound are also rising

The European currency euro also increased by 28.64 som, reaching 14,367.20 som. The British pound sterling rose by 71.82 som, amounting to 17,091.37 som. This indicates that both the euro and the pound are gaining a strong position in the domestic market against the dollar.

Growth in ruble and other currencies

- The Russian ruble appreciated by 1.09 som, reaching 160.47 som. Additionally:
- The Chinese yuan increased by 9.07 som, reaching 1,796.54 som;
- The Japanese yen rose by 0.32 som, reaching 87.41 som;
- The Kazakh tenge increased by 0.23 som, amounting to 25.43 som.

The trend of som devaluation continues

According to the Central Bank's statistics, during 2024, the som depreciated by 4.7% against the dollar. Although this is lower than the 9.7% in 2023 and 3.94% in 2022, it still indicates that the overall trend is not in favor of the som.

Economists believe that external debts, import volumes, and inflation rates significantly impact the dynamics of the som. Therefore, further deepening of reforms is required to stabilize the situation in the currency market.
