A person who demanded a large sum of money from his ex-girlfriend was detained in Bukhara region. This was reported by Upl.uz.
He threatened to distribute the woman's personal photos and videos among family members and colleagues. According to the press service of the Regional Internal Affairs Department, the criminal was caught while receiving the money.
The incident occurred in Qarolbozor district. The 39-year-old man secretly took personal photos and videos of the woman while they were in a relationship.
After the relationship ended, he used these materials for blackmail. The criminal sent compromising materials to his ex-girlfriend through an acquaintance and demanded 100 million soms.
He warned that if the money was not paid, he would disclose this information among her relatives and colleagues. The woman immediately contacted law enforcement agencies.
On August 9, Internal Affairs officers conducted an operation and detained the person while receiving 40 million soms of the demanded amount. A criminal case was initiated under Article 165, Part 2 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The suspect may face up to 10 years of imprisonment. Currently, all circumstances of the case are being clarified.
