According to the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the volume of seized narcotic substances from January to July 2025 has tripled compared to the same period last year. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This was announced by Ravshan Roziyev, head of the committee's main department, at a press conference held at the “Sputnik” information center. In the first seven months of the year, customs officers prevented the import of more than 1.2 thousand tons of narcotic substances.
Additionally, over one ton of psychotropic and potent substances were also seized, which is six times more than last year's figure. The total value of all seized narcotic substances exceeds 16 million dollars.
Roziyev emphasized that besides combating smuggling, the ongoing raids have particular preventive significance among young people. The judicial proceedings against the detained individuals demonstrate that crimes are being punished.
The main goal of such measures is to form a “collective immunity” against drug-related crime in society, which serves to create a safe environment for all citizens. Combating the illegal circulation of narcotic substances is one of the Customs Committee's priority areas, and the achieved results confirm the effectiveness of the ongoing work.
