
On March 27 of this year, an eruption of hydrogen sulfide occurred in well No. 202 at the M-25 gas field, the Ministry of Energy reports.
It is noted that the well was ignited to prevent harm to nature and to avoid air pollution.
No one was injured as a result of the incident. A brigade from the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene promptly.
Representatives of a special headquarters established within the Ministry of Energy and other relevant organizations also arrived at the site to organize the work.
It is reported that all necessary measures are currently being taken using the required equipment and tools. Additionally, enhanced measures are being implemented to ensure safety.
It is particularly emphasized that this situation poses no danger to the population and nearby areas. The process is fully monitored by specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Inspection for Industrial Safety, and the Uzbekistan military unit responsible for preventing and eliminating oil and gas emergencies.
Currently, the situation and the causes of the fire are being investigated.
On September 1, 2024, during drilling operations at well No. 604 located in the "Ko'lqamish" neighborhood of the 25th Anniversary of Independence field in the Boysun district of Surkhandarya region, an eruption of hydrogen sulfide gas occurred due to a disruption in the technological process.
On September 17, 2024, it was reported that high-pressure hydrogen sulfide gas was leaking from the vicinity of well No. 604 again. As a result of the incident, 4 people died, and 11 were injured.
