Officers of the State Security Service, the territorial department of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Internal Affairs Ministry's Main Directorate of Internal Security conducted a special rapid operation in cooperation. During the operation, the senior investigator of the investigative department of the Angren city internal affairs department was detained.
The arrest took place while the investigator was receiving an advance payment of 5,000 US dollars. This individual demanded a total of 10,000 dollars to avoid initiating a criminal case.
During the preliminary investigation he was conducting, he was supposed to officially issue a refusal to initiate a criminal case in the citizen's name. A criminal case has been initiated against the senior investigator under Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan for bribery.
The detained person is currently held in custody. He may face imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years.
