On January 30, Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a wreath at the foot of the Islom Karimov statue in Tashkent, the presidential press service reports.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, the Presidential Administration, the government, intellectuals, and the city community.
“This is a testament that the service to the people will not be forgotten and will always be honored,” the report states.


The state leader's press service noted that with the attention of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the memory of the first president has been immortalized, and January 30, his birthday, has become a day of celebration every year. A scientific and educational memorial complex has been established in Tashkent. Visiting the Islom Karimov mausoleum during trips to Samarkand has become a tradition.


“This is also an example and a model for future generations. Such respect and unity were demonstrated at the ceremony,” the report states.


During the event, verses from the Quran were recited, and prayers were offered. The works and virtues of the first president for the benefit of the people were remembered.


Such events were also held in the cities of Samarkand and Qarshi.
