The main goalkeeper of Ligue 1 is Luca Chevalier, who was purchased from Lille. The head coach of the Russian national team, Valeriy Karpin, responded to the question of whether Safonov should leave the Paris club.
Karpin told journalists: “The player must decide about his own future.” Matvey Safonov transferred from Krasnodar to PSG in the summer of 2024.
In his first season, he played 17 matches for the major French football club, conceding 13 goals. The current contract ties the 26-year-old goalkeeper to PSG until the end of the 2028/2029 season.
