The new format of the UEFA Europa League has been approved

Bayern team captain Vincent Kompani shared his thoughts on the new format of the UEFA Champions League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

It is known that starting from last year, a new league phase was introduced instead of the group stage. Each team plays eight matches, four at home and four away.

The top eight teams advance directly to the round of 16. Teams ranked from 9th to 24th enter the playoff stage.

As Kompani emphasized, if a team wins six matches, it qualifies for the top eight. Four wins are enough to reach the playoffs.

This stage is very exciting, and the new format is becoming even more attractive for spectators. They face a challenging path against strong opponents like Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG, but the goal is to reach the top 8.

In the first round of the new league phase, Bayern will play against Chelsea at home. The match will take place on Wednesday, September 17, in Munich.

Last season, Bayern reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League but missed the opportunity against Inter. The team aims to achieve even better results in the new season.
