Last summer, Liverpool bought two expensive forwards – Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In July, the Reds purchased the French player from Eintracht for 95 million euros. The 23-year-old player was considered as an alternative to Isak, as it was expected to be difficult to acquire Isak.
However, the Swedish player refused to play for Newcastle and demanded a transfer to Liverpool. Liverpool paid approximately 145 million euros for Alexander without bonuses.
According to journalist Julien Loren, when Ekitike learned about Isak's transfer, he might have opposed the move. Now, the Dutch coach will have to divide playing time between two forwards with similar profiles.
This situation will increase competition in the team's attacking line and provide the coach with new tactical options. Additionally, the rivalry between the players is expected to have a positive impact on the team's overall results.
