Former referee Igor Egorov shared his opinion about the video assistant referee system in the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the VAR system slows down the pace of the game because long pauses occur while reviewing incidents. Egorov emphasized that despite having many cameras, the process of analyzing situations remains complex, and due to the human factor, it is impossible to completely eliminate errors.
The former referee believes that to maintain the speed of the games, the number of incidents reviewed via video should be reduced. He said: “It is necessary to reduce the number of moments reviewed.
Players are human, so referees should be human too.” Currently, the “Krasnodar” team is leading the championship, with CSKA and “Baltika” teams also in the top three.
