Former CSKA player Vladimir Ponomaryov commented on the decision of Norwegian club "Bodø/Glimt" goalkeeper Nikita Haykin to renounce Russian sports citizenship. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He stated that Haykin has been active in Norway for a long time and has a family there. Therefore, there is no need to worry excessively about his decision.
Ponomaryov emphasized that it is incorrect to say that talented goalkeepers have left the national team, as there are still many quality goalkeepers in Russia. Nikita Haykin is 30 years old and has been playing for "Bodø/Glimt" since March 2023.
Previously, he also represented this club from 2019 to 2023. In the current Norwegian championship, he has appeared in 23 matches, conceded 20 goals, and managed to keep a clean sheet 11 times.
In the future, Haykin is expected to play for the Norwegian national team. This decision is considered an important step from the perspective of the player's personal and professional development.
It is noteworthy that there are still many talented goalkeepers available for the Russian national team.
