
The African Football Confederation (CAF) has allocated all 9 direct slots for the 2026 World Cup. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
These slots were secured by the national teams of Egypt, Senegal, South Africa, Cape Verde, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Tunisia, and Ghana. These teams finished first in their groups.
In November, a competition will be held for one slot in the intercontinental playoff matches among the four best teams that finished second in their groups during the African qualifiers. The pairings are as follows: Gabon – Nigeria and Democratic Republic of Congo – Cameroon.
The semifinal matches will take place on November 13, and the final match will be held on November 16. The winner of this mini playoff will participate in the intercontinental playoff matches in the spring.
