Stanislav Cherchesov, head coach of the "Ahmat" club in Grozny, shared his thoughts on the upcoming changes regarding the number of legionnaires. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The Ministry of Sports plans to reduce the number of legionnaires to 10 in the application and to 5 on the field by the 2028-2029 season. According to Cherchesov, there should be a limit on legionnaires, but how it is implemented is important.
Managing the team will not be easy, but the adopted decision will be followed and work will continue. The official website of the Russian championship announced that the "Ahmat" team includes 12 foreign citizens.
Some of them are from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, and the limit does not apply to them. It is not yet clear how this situation will affect the new regulations regarding the number of legionnaires.
Overall, the reduction in the number of legionnaires is expected to encourage teams to renew their squads and promote the development of national players. At the same time, the new rules may create additional difficulties for coaches.
