After the match between 'Pakhtakor' and 'Shortan' in the 7th round of the Uzbekistan Super League, the host's coach, Pedru Moreyra, shared his detailed thoughts about the match.
“We entered the game with good preparation. In the first half, we focused more on the attack and were quite active compared to the opponent. As a result, we were able to create many opportunities to score. At the same time, we managed to neutralize the dangerous and strong aspects of the opponent. It was very important for us to win today's match. Therefore, maintaining the players' enthusiasm and mood for the game was one of our main tasks,” said Moreyra.
The Portuguese specialist also specifically addressed how the team acted after being reduced to ten players:
“When our squad was reduced by one player, naturally, our main focus was on the defensive line, striving not to allow the opponent to pose a threat to us. The team performed this task well and managed to keep the opponent away from our goal. During the game, we hardly gave the opposing team any clear opportunities.”
At the same time, Moreyra acknowledged that there were more opportunities to score by effectively utilizing the open spaces, but there were shortcomings in converting those situations into goals:
“We had the opportunity to increase the number of goals by effectively using the open spaces created by the opponent. Unfortunately, we could not fully convert these opportunities into goals. Nevertheless, we achieved a difficult but important victory in today's match, just as we did in the crucial game in Fergana in the previous round,” concluded the head coach of 'Pakhtakor'.
It should be noted that Pedru Moreyra's team is also striving to achieve successful results in the upcoming rounds of the Super League and to remain among the main contenders for the championship.
