This week, the city of Istanbul in Turkey hosted the prestigious "European Cup – 2025" tournament for youth judo. The Uzbekistan youth national team participated successfully, once again demonstrating its reputation on the international stage.
More than 500 talented judokas from nearly 30 countries around the world attended this prestigious sporting event. In a tournament rich in strong competition and fierce battles, the young athletes from Uzbekistan managed to attract the attention of fans with their brilliant performances.
In particular, our two representatives who competed in their weight categories — Aselxan Aralbayeva and Umida Nig‘matova — defeated all their opponents and rightfully became gold medalists. Each victory of these young judokas was an important event showcasing our country's potential in the field of sports.
Our young judokas also showed very good results among the boys. Dilshodbek Hamroyev (-66 kg), who reached the finals of the competition, lost in the decisive match by a narrow margin and secured an honorable silver medal. Additionally, another representative, Bunyod Safarov (-73 kg), is set to return home with a bronze medal.
It is worth noting that Uzbekistan's young judokas achieved a high result in the overall team standings at this competition as well. With two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, our team secured second place in the overall ranking, further strengthening the country's reputation in the international sports arena.
These results inspire new hopes for the future rise of Uzbek judo on larger international platforms. Sports specialists and coaches express confidence that these young talents will show even brighter results in upcoming tournaments.
