The Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia was held in Tashkent

The 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia was held in the city of Tashkent. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the event. Leaders of international and regional sports organizations also attended this event.
Among the guests were Sheikh Jowaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee; Witold Banka, head of the World Anti-Doping Agency; Morinari Watanabe, President of the International Gymnastics Federation; and Gennady Golovkin, President of the World Boxing organization. In his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about the role of sports in strengthening dialogue and cooperation between countries and peoples.
He congratulated Sheikh Jowaan bin Hamad Al Thani on his election as President of the Olympic Council of Asia and specially acknowledged his contribution to the development of international sports. During the assembly, reforms in Uzbekistan's sports sector were presented.
In particular, information was provided about the establishment of the "President's Olympics" competition system, the construction of the Olympic Village, and the expansion of the system for training highly qualified athletes. Additionally, the successful participation of Uzbek athletes in the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in Paris was especially emphasized.
Within the framework of the event, more than 20 cooperation agreements were signed between international and Asian sports organizations and Uzbekistan's national sports federations. Plans were announced to establish various sports facilities and academies in the future.
Furthermore, initiatives aimed at developing Uzbekistan's sports diplomacy were also supported. At the conclusion of the assembly, Sheikh Jowaan bin Hamad Al Thani was awarded the "Order of Honor" by the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.
