The capacity of the "Monumental" stadium will be increased to 101 thousand

The Argentine football club “River Plate” has announced its plan to expand its “Monumental” stadium. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Within this project, the stadium's capacity is planned to be increased to 101 thousand spectators. Currently, the stadium can accommodate 85 thousand fans, and the new construction works will add another 16 thousand seats.
This was reported by euro-football.ru. According to the project, construction will begin in April 2026 and will last approximately three years.
Thus, the renovated “Monumental” stadium will be able to serve more than 100 thousand spectators starting from 2029. This change will make the stadium one of the largest arenas in the world.
Due to its new capacity, the “Monumental” stadium will surpass the size of Spain’s famous “Camp Nou” stadium. However, it will still be smaller than the “Rungrado 1st of May” stadium located in North Korea, which was built in the 1980s.
At the same time, the project aims not only to increase the stadium's capacity but also to improve its overall infrastructure. This upgrade will provide more comfortable conditions for football fans.
