The capacity of the "River Plate" stadium will be increased to 101,000

The Argentine football club «River Plate» has announced the launch of a project to expand its historic «Monumental» stadium. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
After the reconstruction is completed, the stadium's capacity will be increased to 101 thousand spectators. Currently, the stadium can accommodate 85 thousand people, and the renovation will add another 16 thousand seats.
This was reported by euro-football.ru. Construction work is planned to begin in April 2026 and is expected to last approximately three years.
According to the club's information, the renovated stadium will be put into operation starting from 2029. This expanded arena is expected to become one of the largest stadiums in the world.
In terms of capacity, the «Monumental» stadium will surpass other famous arenas worldwide, including Spain's «Camp Nou» stadium. Nevertheless, it will remain smaller than the «Rungrado 1st of May» stadium located in Pyongyang, North Korea, which was built in the 1980s.
This project is part of the club's strategic plan to create comfortable conditions for its fans.
