Abduqodir Husanov: rising through simplicity and hard work

Abduqodir Husanov recently spoke openly about his career, life, and attitude towards football in an interview with Setanta Sports Uzbekistan channel. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He did not try to promote himself or present himself as a big star. On the contrary, his simple, sincere, and logical answers attracted the attention of fans.
According to Husanov, he meets with his teammates almost every day because training sessions are regular and the discipline is strict. During matches, his family and close ones support him.
This helps boost his mental strength in his life in Britain. He emphasized that when the Uzbekistan national team qualified for the World Cup, his first thought was “We made 38 million people happy.”
This shows that he views the results not as a personal achievement but as a team success. During the interview, Husanov also spoke about the increased attention to football in Uzbekistan.
In his opinion, this is the result of a systematic approach. The achievements of young footballers, the Olympic Games, and World Cup qualifications are not accidental but the fruit of hard work.
When asked by fans “Who is the toughest opponent?” he did not give a clear answer, which shows his distance from hype. When asked about an injury after the match against Liverpool, he briefly said: “Everything is fine, thank God.”
Speaking about Manchester City's tough schedule, Husanov takes this situation calmly. According to him, his family and teammates always support him, which gives him strength.
He also touched on why he chose the number 45. He has been using this number since his time in Belarus, and it has become a habit.
Husanov feels comfortable as a central defender. He recalled the match against PSG as the most memorable in his career.
He considers Fabio Cannavaro an ideal partner because this player stands out with the mentality and positional play necessary for victory. Abduqodir Husanov's football journey started at the Bunyodkor academy and continued at Belarus’s Energetik-BGU club.
Later, he caught the attention of European clubs and in 2023 moved to France’s Lens club. In January 2025, Manchester City added him to their squad.
His transfer value is estimated at around 40 million euros. The main conclusion from this interview is that Husanov is a footballer known not for noise but for his work.
His simplicity and sincerity further elevate his character. For fans, this is a very pleasant quality.
