A match may be held between Russia and Serbia

Former defender of Russia's "Lokomotiv" football club, Nemenya Peichinovich, emphasized that if the Russian national team cannot find an opponent for friendly matches due to international restrictions, they may turn to Serbia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by euro-football.ru. According to Peichinovich, if a match is held between Russia and Serbia, regardless of whether it takes place in Moscow or Belgrade, the stadiums will be full.
He explained this opinion by the close relations between the two peoples. Additionally, according to the Metaratings publication, the footballer noted that such meetings are also beneficial for the development of football in both countries.
For reference, in March 2024, a match took place between the national teams of Russia and Serbia in Moscow. In this encounter, Russia won with a score of 4:0.
During the match, the controversial dismissal of Serbian defender Milan Gajić sparked much discussion. The Serbian national team usually regularly participates in major tournaments.
However, it has been confirmed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held in North America, will take place without them. This situation may affect their international activities in the coming years.
