«Galatasaray» achieved a historic victory in the Champions League

Istanbul's Galatasaray club advanced to the round of 16 in the Champions League. Following this success, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan personally congratulated the team.
The club defeated the Italian representative Juventus in the playoff stage based on the aggregate result of two matches. Galatasaray secured a big 5-2 victory in the first match but lost 2-3 in the return leg; however, with an overall score of 7-5, they progressed to the next stage.
After the game ended, Turkey's Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak, visited the team’s dressing room to congratulate the players and coaches. At the same time, President Erdoğan also contacted head coach Okan Buruk by phone.
The President regarded this victory as an important achievement not only for the club but for all of Turkey. According to him, Galatasaray’s success on the European stage enhances the international reputation of the country's football.
Coach Okan Buruk, in turn, noted that this victory could be dedicated to the President’s birthday. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan turned 72 on February 26 this year.
Galatasaray’s achievement was remembered not only as a sports result but also as an event that further strengthened interest in football in Turkey. This evening became a historic moment that will be remembered for a long time by the club’s fans and all of Turkey.
