Uzbekistani boxers compete for the final of the “Strandja” tournament
The “Strandja” international boxing tournament, ongoing in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, has reached its decisive stage. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Today, the semi-final bouts of the competition will take place. At this stage, the Uzbekistan national team is participating with 16 boxers.
Among them, 7 are female and 9 are male boxers who will enter the ring. This figure is one of the highest results in the tournament.
The fights among women are also attracting serious interest. In the -48 kilogram weight category, Sabina Bobokulova and Farzona Fozilova will face each other.
In this case, the final spot will definitely go to an Uzbek representative. Such internal competition once again proves that our team has a strong lineup.
Also, in the -51 kilogram category, Feruza Kazakova will fight against Ireland’s Kaitlin Fraser. In the -57 kilogram category, Nigina Oktamova will compete against another Irish athlete, Niam Fay.
These fights are expected to be a great test in terms of technique and speed. In the -65 kilogram category, experienced boxer Navbahor Hamidova will enter the ring against England’s Sacha Hickey.
In the -75 kilogram category, Aziza Zokirova will compete against American athlete Naomi Graham. In the -80 kilogram category, Rukhshona Parpiyeva will fight against Turkey’s Yaren Duztas.
In the heavyweight +80 kilogram category, Oltinoy Sotimboyeva will face Kazakhstan’s Dina Islambekova. These fights are of great importance for our women's national team.
Interesting fights are also expected in the men's competitions. In the -50 kilogram category, Asilbek Jalilov will fight against Kazakhstan’s Daniyal Sabit, and in the -70 kilogram category, Shavkatjon Boltayev will face another Kazakhstani, Farukh Tokhtassunov.
In the -75 kilogram category, Fazliddin Erkinboyev will enter the ring against Italian athlete Gabriele Guida. In the -85 kilogram category, Akmaljon Isroilov will compete against Ukrainian Danilo Jasan, and Norbek Abdullayev will face another Ukrainian, Matviy Rajba.
In the -80 kilogram category, Javohir Ummataliyev will fight against Ukrainian Jamal Kuliyev. In the -90 kilogram category, Torabek Khabibullaev will compete against American boxer Joseph Avinongya, and Samir Sobirov will face Bulgarian athlete Bogdan Tolmachov.
In the heavyweight +90 kilogram category, Ozodbek Aliyev will enter the ring against host athlete Yordan Morejon. Fighting against the host representative always requires constant pressure and double responsibility.
Today's fights are scheduled to start at 17:00 and 21:00 Tashkent time. This semi-final stage will be a very important test for the Uzbekistan national team.
