Two football players are suspected of match-fixing in Turkey

Two famous Turkish football clubs — Galatasaray and Fenerbahce players face the risk of imprisonment due to a criminal case related to sports betting. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by *euro-football.ru*. According to the information, Galatasaray player Metehan Baltachi and Fenerbahce captain Mert Hakan Yandash are suspected in this case.
Baltachi may face up to 13 years, and Yandash up to 17 years of imprisonment. According to the Turkish *Sabah* newspaper, Metehan Baltachi placed bets on Galatasaray matches at least twice.
Although he did not play in the starting lineup in those matches, since he was included in the team roster, there was a possibility of indirect influence on the match results. According to current Turkish legislation, professional footballers are required to declare their status as athletes within the bookmaker system.
However, Baltachi did not comply with this requirement. Therefore, charges of illegal actions have been brought against him.
This situation may lead to serious liability for the players.
