New rules against time-wasting in football

Starting from the 2026/2027 football season, new regulations aimed at reducing deliberate time-wasting will be introduced into the game rules. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the BBC, if players are found to be deliberately wasting time, the ball will be awarded to the opposing team. This was reported by euro-football.ru.
If the goalkeeper is wasting time while kicking the ball from their goal, the opposing team will be granted a corner kick. These changes are aimed at ensuring fairness during the game and making the play more dynamic.
Additionally, a new rule will be introduced during substitutions. A player will be given 10 seconds to leave the field.
If the player does not leave the field within the allotted time, the substitute will be allowed onto the pitch 60 seconds late. This will result in the team playing with one fewer player for one minute.
Furthermore, earlier reports indicated that the "Vinicius rule" might also be introduced to football in the near future. These changes are being developed to ensure a more intense and exciting football experience.
