"Bashakshehir" defeated "Gyoztepe" to achieve an important victory
In the 25th round of the Turkish Super League, "Bashakshehir" defeated "Gyoztepe" 2-1 at home. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the post-match press conference, head coach Nuri Şahin described this result as very important for the team and openly explained how the game unfolded. According to Şahin, the main task for the team was to set the pace of the game and not allow "Gyoztepe" to play in their own style.
During the first 15-20 minutes, "Bashakshehir" controlled the tempo. However, later the situation changed and the game shifted to "Gyoztepe"'s style.
The coach acknowledged that the opponent executes such tough and uncomfortable football better than many other teams. Nevertheless, substitutions made in the second half and the team's quality play decided the outcome of the match.
According to Şahin, the victory was especially achieved thanks to the performances of the players who joined after the game started – Hamza, Onur, Ergun, Ivan Brnić, Miguel Crespo, and Kazım. For the coach, this win was not only about the score but also reinforced the belief that those coming off the bench can fight equally.
Speaking about "Bashakshehir" rising to 5th place, Şahin evaluated this result not only as a win against "Gyoztepe" but also from the perspective of the overall competition. Had they lost today, the points gap could have widened to six.
Therefore, this victory was very valuable: the opponent was a team directly competing for a spot in the standings. Şahin also recalled another important point: they had lost to "Gyoztepe" away, and today they took their "revenge" for that result.
These results may have great significance in the next stages. During the press conference, the coach also mentioned some issues within the squad.
For example, although Operi was carrying a minor injury, he wanted to be on the field with the team. Kazım, on the other hand, was ill for the last 3-4 days and could not start the match in the main lineup.
For this reason, Şahin admitted that some decisions were made with risk. However, he emphasized that having many options in the squad is also important.
