Chinese man sold to human trafficking network in Myanmar

A 19-year-old Chinese man fell into a deception trap set by his girlfriend and was sold to a fraud network in Myanmar. One.uz reports this.
The girl lured him abroad with promises of a high-income job and a wealthy life, but at the Thailand and Myanmar border, armed men took the young man to a hidden camp. For four months, he was subjected to violence, forced to engage in computer scams, lost 10 kilograms of weight, and completely lost part of his hearing.
His family paid a $49,000 ransom and managed to free the young man in June. However, the captivity left him with severe psychological trauma, constant fear, and distrust of his surroundings.
The fraud network's method The girl posed as a representative of a wealthy family to approach the young man, using brand-name bags and eye-catching clothes. She gained his trust by claiming to have family businesses in Southeast Asia.
Although his family opposed the relationship, the young man trusted his girlfriend's words and gave his consent. This allowed the girl to persuade him to travel to Thailand.
Conditions and consequences of captivity The young man was forced to sit in front of a computer for 16–20 hours every day in a closed camp in Myanmar, participating in schemes designed to defraud his compatriots. If the quotas were not met, he was punished with metal rods.
Lack of food and constant beatings caused severe damage to his health. His family had to pay 350,000 Chinese yuan for his release.
Currently, the young man is struggling with horrific nightmares, anxiety, and fear; his life has not returned to its previous state.
