Flick Criticizes Barcelona's Performance Despite Victory

Despite securing a convincing 5-2 victory against Sevilla in the twenty-eighth round of La Liga, Barcelona head coach Hans-Dieter Flick emphasized that his players could still improve their level of play. Zamin.uz reported this.
Speaking at a press conference following the match, the German specialist hailed Gavi's return to the squad as a major achievement and stated that this change represents a significant strengthening for the team. Flick openly admitted that his side did not fully utilize their potential in all phases of the game and failed to move with sufficient speed.
He noted that Barcelona players sometimes circulated the ball too slowly, resulting in a lack of necessary confidence in certain situations. The coach reminded his players that they need to intensify their attacking pressing after losing possession, especially with crucial Champions League matches awaiting them ahead.
The coach particularly praised Dani Olmo's strong and effective performance. He also acknowledged the contributions made by Espar and Cancelo for the benefit of the team.
Despite all this, Flick believes that the overall level of play could have been even higher and stated that the team must raise their performance in upcoming matches. Regarding Cancelo, Flick explained that the defender needed some time to adapt to his new team but has performed at an excellent level in recent games.
He commended the Portuguese player's high technical skills, citing his goal-scoring ability, creating the penalty that led to the opening goal, and his role in effectively setting up offside traps as key indicators of his value. Now, the Barcelona team will focus entirely on the Champions League.
On March 10, the Spanish club will host Newcastle at home for the second leg of the semi-final after the first match ended in a 1-1 draw. This match will be of great importance for the club, and the team must demonstrate their full strength.
