Fabio Cannavaro spoke about the reasons for joining the national team

Fabio Cannavaro, head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, spoke in detail about the process of joining the team and the main reasons behind this decision in an interview with the Prime Video Sport IT channel. Zamin.uz reported on this.
The experienced specialist noted that certain changes had occurred within the national team before he started his work. In particular, the previous head coach, Srečko Katanec, left his post due to health-related issues.
During this period, a local specialist temporarily led the team and achieved positive results in the qualifying stages. Cannavaro recalled that Katanec had been working previously but stepped aside for health reasons ahead of the final matches.
He stated that a local coach then continued the work and successfully guided the team through the qualifiers. It was after this stage that the federation decided to invite a foreign specialist.
The Italian coach also mentioned that he had visited Uzbekistan well before receiving an official offer. He came to the country as part of a legends' match, where he became closely acquainted with the local football environment and infrastructure.
He noted that during that visit, he met and communicated with the vice-president of the federation. When the offer arrived a few weeks later, he emphasized that he accepted it without any hesitation.
Fabio Cannavaro specifically pointed out that financial matters did not play a primary role in making this decision. According to him, the most important factor was the sporting goals and the dream of leading the national team to the World Cup.
The coach said he did not discuss money or other conditions; for him, the main achievement was feeling the opportunity to reach the level of the World Cup. This information is based on an interview with the Prime Video Sport IT channel.
The coach's personal views and clear goals have sparked great interest among fans. Now, all attention is focused on the future matches and results of the national team under the leadership of Fabio Cannavaro.
