Another young star of Uzbekistan football is achieving success in Europe. The 21-year-old Abbosbek Fayzullayev, playing in the Russian Premier League, has made significant achievements both at the club level and in his personal career this season. He won prestigious trophies in Russian football for the first time with the CSKA team from Moscow.
CSKA's spring flight — bronze and cup
Although the CSKA team finished the first half of the season in sixth place, they came back from the winter break with a completely renewed spirit. Under the leadership of Marko Nikolich, the "army men" did not suffer any defeats in the spring matches — with 8 wins and 4 draws, they finished the championship in third place and secured bronze medals.
Additionally, CSKA made its mark in the Russian Cup as well. The Moscow team managed to end the season with a cup by defeating "Rostov" in a dramatic penalty shootout in the final.
Fayzullayev: “This cup means a lot to me”
Abbosbek Fayzullayev shared his thoughts about the trophy-winning season:
“This is my first trophy in Russia, and it is very important. We have come a long way as a team, especially the victory against “Zenit” was unforgettable. We deserved this award.”
Abbos also reflected on his personal statistics for the season:
“Last year I recorded 5 goals and 14 assists. This time I achieved a 3+8 result. My position changed in the second half of the season, which affected the statistics. But I am trying to adapt to the new role.”
Supercup — the next goal
The CSKA team is set to compete for another major trophy — the Russian Supercup. They are awaiting a decisive match against the champion “Krasnodar.” The date and location of this match are expected to be announced soon.
Despite being young, he has many achievements
Throughout his career, Abbosbek has already won several trophies. He is a three-time champion of Uzbekistan with "Pakhtakor," a Supercup holder, and a winner of the Asian Cup with the Uzbekistan U-20 national team.
He has also been recognized as the best player of the “U-20 Asian Cup,” a two-time “Footballer of the Year” in Uzbekistan, the “Discovery of the Season” in the Russian Premier League, and in 2023, he was acknowledged as “Asia's Best Young Footballer.”
Abbosbek Fayzullayev is showcasing his game not only on the field but also on the path to success. His first season in Russia is becoming enriched with new challenges and achievements. He has many more milestones and medals ahead — and fans are eagerly awaiting great accomplishments from him.
