The former head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Slovenian specialist Srechko Katanes, shared his impressions and heartfelt wishes regarding the historic significance of the Uzbekistan football team qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals.
In a brief but sincere statement, Katanes expressed his feelings as follows:
“I won’t say much. Congratulations to all of you. This achievement belongs to all of us — the players, coaches, team staff, management, and most importantly, the fans who have continuously supported the team!” said Katanes.
A significant contribution to a great achievement
It is worth noting that Srechko Katanes led the Uzbekistan national team from 2021 to 2023, during which time the team made significant tactical progress and demonstrated a solid game against strong opponents.
Under his leadership, the team underwent a renewal process, forming key players. There is no doubt that Katanes' efforts served as an important foundation for today’s successes.
Coaches come and go, but their work, strategies, and the spirit they instill in the team leave a mark in history. Srechko Katanes' place in the history of Uzbekistan football is deserving of respect.
Uzbekistan has embarked on its journey to the World Cup. Every person who has worked in the past has contributed to this victory. Thank you, Katanes!
