The head coach of England's Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, openly addressed the press regarding the results the team has achieved this season. He emphasized that if he had recorded such results in Spain, he would have been out of work for a long time.
“We need to be a bit more patient. Take Carlo Ancelotti — he recently won the Champions League and La Liga, and now he is managing the Brazil national team. This shows what the path of a top-level coach can be,” Guardiola said in his remarks.
The renowned specialist noted that Manchester City did not show the expected results in October, November, and December. However, the environment in English football is fundamentally different from that in Spain.
“If I had recorded these results at Barcelona or Real, I would have been sacked a long time ago. Here — in England — such talk hasn’t even come up. There is trust and patience here,” he added.
Guardiola also spoke openly about his internal struggles. He admitted that he has thought a lot about how to get the team back on track and improve the results.
“I convince myself: 'Everything is in place, you are doing well.' But in reality, I have not been able to fix the situation this year. I have thought several times about what changes need to be made, what approach would be effective. Unfortunately, this time the results did not change,” Pep said.
It is worth noting that Manchester City has not been able to dominate in the Champions League and the English Premier League this season as in previous years. Nevertheless, the club's management continues to express confidence in Guardiola.
Due to his experience and the ideas he has brought to the club, this confidence remains intact for now. Fans are hoping that next season the "Citizens" will restore their reputation and return to victories with their brilliant performances on the field.
