Supercomputer evaluates England vs Mexico matchup

The Opta analytical system has assessed the chances of the Mexico and England national teams ahead of their Round of 16 match at the 2026 World Cup, Zamin.uz reports.
According to supercomputer calculations, the English are considered the main favorites to win this encounter. However, given that Mexico’s chances are also rated highly, fans can expect a tense and unpredictable battle.
The analysis shows that England has a 40.6% probability of winning in regular time, while Mexico’s chance of victory within 90 minutes stands at 31.5%.
Although the supercomputer favors England, the balance of power between the two teams appears very close. As a result, the likelihood of the match ending in a draw after regular time is estimated at 27.9%.
This suggests that extra time or a penalty shootout could be a real possibility. Mexico delivered an impressive performance in the group stage, winning all their matches and finishing top of their group with nine points.
In the first knockout round, they successfully passed Ecuador to reach the Round of 16. England also showed confident play in their group, securing first place.
They reached this stage after a hard-fought victory over the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the Round of 16, demonstrating their ambitions. According to One.uz, this exciting clash will take place on the evening of July 6.
The winner will advance to the World Cup quarter-finals. While experts express greater confidence in England, Mexico’s consistent form in the tournament suggests that an upset cannot be ruled out.
Both teams will undoubtedly leave everything on the field in their pursuit of the next round.
