Thailand to reinstate 15-day visa-free regime for Uzbek citizens

The negative consequences of Thailand’s cancellation of the 60-day visa-free regime for Uzbek citizens have been felt, leading to a proposal to reintroduce a 15-day visa-free arrangement. One.uz reports on this.
This decision was made due to a sharp decline in tourist flow caused by restrictions adopted on September 15, as tour operators redirected travelers to Vietnam. The issue will be officially reviewed at the Thailand Visa Policy Committee meeting on November 9.
Reasons for the decision When the previous regime was canceled, tourists faced complications and delays in obtaining visas. Consequently, major tourism companies began limiting Thailand routes and actively promoting Vietnamese resorts, which offer more favorable terms.
This situation caused significant damage to Thailand’s tourism business and budget. New terms and duration Under the proposed new arrangement, citizens of Uzbekistan, Mexico, and Colombia are expected to be able to enter Thailand visa-free for 15 days.
Although this period is shorter than 60 days, it is considered sufficient for classic vacations and short trips. If the committee approves this initiative on November 9, Uzbek tourists will be able to travel to popular destinations such as Phuket and Pattaya during the autumn-winter season without the rush of gathering extra documents.
