The National Court of Spain did not change the ruling against the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales. This was reported by www.euro-football.ru.
According to the official statement, all appeals from the parties involved in the case, including the defense, the prosecution, and other participants, were rejected. In February 2025, Rubiales was found guilty of inappropriate behavior.
This incident occurred during the final match of the 2023 Women's World Cup, where Rubiales kissed Spain national team player Jenifer Hermoso on the lips in public.
The player stated that she did not consent to such an action. According to the legal decision, Rubiales is prohibited from approaching the player within 200 meters for one year and from establishing any contact with her. Additionally, he will be fined 20 euros per day for 18 months.
The total amount of the fine will be approximately 10,800 euros. This decision is not subject to review, and the judicial authorities found that the former official's behavior violated the athlete's personal boundaries.
At the same time, the court's decision emphasized the protection of the athlete's rights. This case once again highlighted the importance of personal boundaries in the sports sector in Spain.
